Sources and assumptions
Milestone: XProtect LPR camera license $1,295 and Pro+ device license $169 per camera, plus the LPR base license $300 (5 plate modules) and 7 more plate modules at $645 each, once per system. Milestone licenses each emirate as its own module, so reading every GCC country takes 12. Official 2021-R2 USD list prices; $1,295 and $645 still listed by a reseller in September 2026.
Hikvision: HikCentral ANPR 1-channel license $216.79 (reseller, 2026) plus an iDS-2CD8A46G0-XZ(H)S(Y) ANPR camera at AED 7,200 (SAR 7,370, about $1,960), the GCC average, from a Gulf seller's regular price, September 2026.
Avigilon: ACC7-LPR $3,492.48 per lane and a Standard channel $180.08 per camera, list prices in a public contract price list, January 2023. All six GCC countries are one plate format at no extra cost.

Usually, yes. ANPR Edge works with standard IP camera streams (ONVIF) and handles Hikvision and Dahua directly. Camera position, resolution, angle and night-time infrared still decide the image quality, so send us a sample frame or the camera model and we will check it before you replace anything.
The unlimited license has no camera limit; how many cameras one PC handles depends on its hardware. We measured 16 cameras running continuously in Parked cars mode on a Core i7 desktop. Past 30 cameras, move to a PC with an RTX 5070 Ti GPU — the license stays the same. The $2,500 license covers up to 4 cameras.
The license never expires and needs no renewal to keep running. It includes all six GCC countries, vehicle make, model and colour, and 3 months of updates. After that, updates are optional: $1,170 a year per unlimited license and $450 a year per 4-camera license.

Often not. Compatible Hikvision and Dahua camera outputs can trigger a barrier directly, or ANPR Edge can use a small Modbus relay board to close the input your existing controller already accepts. Your obstruction and anti-crush safety systems stay in the barrier controller.
It depends on the image presented to the model. Resolution, camera position, plate angle, focus, lighting, motion blur and obstruction all affect the result. Every result includes confidence values, and the free image demo lets you test representative frames before deciding.
