Free parking works best when guests can leave without searching for a ticket or explaining a validation at the barrier. Plate recognition links the visit to the vehicle from the moment it enters, helping your team keep exit lanes moving even at busy times.

The entry-lane camera reads the plate and starts the parking visit. No ticket is issued, so there is nothing for guests to carry or lose while they shop.

When the vehicle leaves, the system applies the rules for that plate: free hours, a tenant validation, staff or resident access, or the relevant parking tariff.

See activity across every entrance
Each read includes the direction of travel, so vehicles are counted accurately as they enter and leave. Tenant validation follows the same simple approach: a customer’s plate is added to the list your exit rules check.
Find a vehicle in seconds
Search by plate to see the most recent camera sighting, time and image. ANPR Edge searches the plates it has already read on site, without sending the search outside your network. A touch-screen kiosk for shoppers is available now (below); a find-a-car API is in development.

Put a touch screen by the lifts or the pay stations. Visitors type their plate, or tap the colour, make and model they remember, and see where their car is parked — with its photo.

What it takes to run
- Ordinary IP cameras. No dedicated ANPR hardware — Hikvision over ISAPI, Dahua over CGI, or anything that gives an ONVIF or RTSP stream.
- Whatever barrier is already there. It is driven over ISAPI, CGI or a Modbus relay board, and all three end at the same momentary contact.
- One Windows or macOS machine on the same network as the cameras, or nothing at all if you run against the cloud API instead.
- A list you already keep. A Google Sheet, an uploaded CSV, or rows typed into the app — to a rule they are the same table of plates.
Questions
What about a car with no plate we can read?
The vehicle follows the same manual process your site uses today for an unreadable entry—an intercom, attendant or button. ANPR should support that process, never leave a guest stuck at a barrier.
Can it handle several entrances?
Yes. One unlimited ANPR Edge licence covers all cameras at a mall, across every entrance. The number of cameras a PC can run depends on its hardware; when you need more capacity, you upgrade the PC rather than the licence. Mall groups receive volume pricing from their second location.
Do the plates leave our network?
Not for recognition. With an ANPR Edge licence, plates are read on your own machine. The PC checks in with us at least every three days for licensing and updates; a fully air-gapped deployment is also available on request.
