Sign in to Windows automatically
What it does
ANPR Edge can only count once somebody is signed in to Windows. With this on, the computer signs itself in after a restart and locks the screen straight away, so it gets back to work without anybody at the keyboard — and nobody walking past can use it.

Switch it on with the installer
This needs the Windows password for the account the software runs under, and the app never asks for passwords. So it is set up by the installer.
- 1Run the ANPR Edge installer again (the same version or newer). Your settings and cameras are kept.
- 2On the Startup page, tick "Keep this car park running with nobody signed in (recommended for site PCs)".
- 3On the "Run with nobody signed in" page, enter the Windows account name and its password.
- 4Finish the installation.
Type the password carefully. If it is wrong, the computer will wait at the sign-in screen after its next restart. Before restarting, test it: press Windows+L to lock, then unlock with the same password.
How the password is kept
Windows keeps the password in its own protected store, the same way Windows' own automatic sign-in does — it is not written in a file or in plain text in the registry. Straight after signing in, a scheduled task named "ANPR Lock Desktop At Logon" locks the screen.
If the Windows password changes
Automatic sign-in will stop working, because Windows still has the old password. Run the installer again and enter the new one.
Check it worked
- Restart the computer and do not touch it. It should sign in, lock its screen, and ANPR Edge should start counting within a few minutes.
Turning it off
Untick "Signs in to Windows on its own" in the app, or uninstall ANPR Edge. Both stop automatic sign-in and remove the screen-lock task. To make sure the stored password can no longer be used, change the Windows account's password.

In ANPR Edge, open Support and choose Chat with support, or email [email protected]. Attach the file from Activity & logs › Download Logs — it includes these settings and the Windows records we need.
